Isn’t this banana leaf beautiful? The texture and lines and shades of green color, contrasted against the blue mountain sky. This photo was taken part-way through a 7-hour ride through the Sierra Madre mountain range, from the Pacific coast to the capital city in the state of Oaxaca in Mexico on the last day of January 2020. We’d heard enough stories about the drive to reserve front row seats, take dramamine, keep the windows open, so we didn’t get sick although we did feel woozy for the stretch deepest in the mountains. I distracted myself by taking pictures of things I saw along the way (coming soon!). Some bonus photos are included below, taken at our mini-van stop in the cool and peaceful mountains.
