On a hot summer day on Sicily, driving from village to village, this little lemon delight was as refreshing as it looks. We stopped to check out the exquisite pottery in Caltigirone, and after hiking up the tiled lined 142-stair case, we were ready for a refreshment. We sampled the granita almost every where we went on the island and this was the best! Included below is a small gallery with some of the sights in Caltigirone, which sits in the mountains in the Catania commune (actually about 40 miles southwest from the city proper). For previous posts about other small things we enjoyed on our Italy vacation, check these out: formaggio and Falmenta geraniums.
