Iznik çini

Iznik Tiles in the Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, Turkey

If you follow my blogs, you know that I have a love for Turkey, having the good fortune to spend a month in Gaziantep in 2010, as part of an IBM leadership program called Corporate Service Corps. One of the many things I love from this beautiful place are the amazing tiles, with their traditional colors of turquoise, cobalt, malachite, and coral, and how they stand out in such a striking way. When I remember days of wandering through mosques and palaces covered with fantastic Iznik tiles, I am filled with joy. Here I’ve shared a few photos I took while on holiday in Istanbul with my husband. You’ll find some of my other posts about Turkey here: blue mosque, gypsy girl, Nazar Boncugu, turkish tulips, Turkish talentsoğuk bira efes and yüzen tekneler. Also, I enjoyed reading this article to learn more about Turkish Iznik tiles – thought you might, too.
