I love to sew, especially when I make something that turns out better than I had envisioned. Since retiring I’ve made some simple things like pillows, place mats, table runners, purses, garlands. I don’t remember why but I was thumbing through my sewing tips book one day and came across some patterns, including a simple kimono that I thought would be easy and fun to try. This is a jacket I made with heavyweight fabric that had been stored in a big plastic box in our basement.
Bonus photo: I started my kimono sewing spree with this light cotton summer bathrobe, which turned out to be a great use of fabric remnants, including a pretty white eyelet as trim.
