I found this coral along the sands of Half Moon Bay in Akumal, Mexico back in 2004. These fascinating pieces sit together in a ceramic bowl in our den, along with lots of other beachy things from our travels. They carry with them the mystery of their flowering, flowing life in the depths of the sea. (Bonus photo below shows me collecting coral and shells at sunrise on the bay.)
