nasturtiums

I love nasturtiums! Maybe because they were introduced to me by my adopted Grandpa Garber when I was 7 years old. I remember visiting him with my Mom and brother Mike at his apartment. He had several potted plants on his back patio, one which included nasturtiums. He pulled a big round leaf off the plant and started eating it! I was impressed and it’s a memory I have not forgotten over the years. I’m super excited that this year I was able to grow from seed a couple of hanging baskets full. The leaves are a somewhat bitter so I don’t actually eat them, although it might be fun to put some of the blossoms on a cake sometime (they are edible, too!).
