The regularity of seeing whales from our perch at Posada la Barca (PLB) in San Agustinillo increased abundantly when we began visiting Mexico in January instead of December. I captured the above image with my little Canon Sure Shot on maximum zoom. The way to know where to look for the whales (and aim the camera) is by noting where tourist boats gather in a group, sometimes as many as 6 or 7. Here the boat closest to the whale delights in the view as she sprays her fountain of water for all to enjoy. The first bonus photo below shows the whale breaching between 2 of the boats. Over the years, we’ve taken a couple of boat tours where we’ve come close to the whales like this. Exhilarating! The other bonus photo shows our perch from PLB.
