‘Nazar Boncugu’ is Turkish for a blue bead used as a talisman to protect against the evil-eye. The evil-eye superstition comes from very early times and it can be found in most of the cultures in the world. This one is a magnet that we keep on our refrigerator. It makes me smile because it reminds me of my Turkish friends and all of the other ‘evil eye’ gadgets that I have acquired over the years (including a rope soap hanging in my shower!).
If you missed them, I’ve posted previously about Turkey on this blog: turkish tulips and Turkish talent, as well as over at another of my blogs: gypsy girl, yüzen tekneler, soğuk bira efes and blue mosque.
