monarch visit

I love spring in Iowa. The weather is cool, everything is green, and flowers are beginning to bloom. Oh, yeah, and sometimes monarch butterflies come through our backyard! I’m not sure why seeing butterflies bring me such a sense of joy, but they do! A few days in late May when I was sitting on our back deck to enjoy  my morning coffee and muffin, I saw this amazing Monarch flying around enjoying the floral feast. I couldn’t believe it stayed still long enough for me to capture it enjoying the early chive flowers!
